I believe with your prestige content… Please don’t call it content. Makes me heave.

So hang on a minute – a black and white film from the 1940s about a love triangle, set in North Africa? Not really sure what that’s about. The third instalment of Black Mirror‘s seventh series sees us attempting to reboot a classic film using modern technology. And a modern actress – Brandy Friday – in place of the original male lead. All the other ‘actors’ are AI generated and when some gimboid spills their coffee over some equipment, Brandy is trapped inside the picture. Time travels faster for her inside the film (see the cookie implant from ‘White Christmas‘ for details) and she ends up formulating a relationship with the female lead (fellow actress Dorothy Chambers) whilst they fix the problem.

No further spoilers, your honour. So who are Keyworth Pictures? Well, they’re an old skool production company down on their luck and they originally produced the classic film in question: Hotel Reverie. The executives at ReDream come up with the idea of the remake using their state-of-the-art, on-the-fly tech and it all goes swimmingly until it doesn’t.

So we have two big companies to choose from in this one. And I will tell you that ReDream are very much front and centre, their logo appearing numerous times in the show and some of those times being absolutely massive in size. In fact, You really can’t miss it. I even caught it when I saw the trailer for series seven and thought ‘I’m having that’. Well, as it turns out, I’m actually not having that at all.

Keyworth Pictures’ logo does also appear, but it’s much more sedate, distressed and, well, kind of old. Which makes sense. You only really see a couple of frames of it, one of which is all battered up on the walls near a car park. I haven’t directly copied it, as their version does include a single key on it, and it’s up against massive lettering, so doesn’t really work when shrunk down. So this is my version, using the original as a base.

As it goes, I have actually reflected the ReDream logo in my version, notably on the heads of the keys, using the five ‘reel’ circles contained in the lower case D. If you’re interested, the other end of the key includes the glyph symbol from other episodes such as White Bear and Bandersnatch.

Hopefully you like it and it becomes the beginning of a beautiful purchase.
