The Frimmerang

With its patented rapid-return technology, it’s the first frisbee that comes back to you!
I’ve extolled the virtues of Limmy’s daily (0930-1330 Monday to Friday) streams before, but never lifted anything directly from them until now. Which, given how often I watch them, is a bit of a surprise. Ordinarily, they fall into one of the following categories; talking shite about nothing for hours on end, the latest instalment of a two to three week long odyssey where he struggles to complete a game, quick games that are binned almost instantly or creating horrible electro pop cover versions of shit songs and generally inventing weird stuff in Ableton.
The Frimmerang is from the latter of these. Spurred on by a suggestion from a member of his chat*, the Frimmerang is a frisbee that functions like a boomerang. In the sense that it comes back to you when thrown. Or tossed, if you like. The Ableton bit is the invention of a fake radio advert for the product. Having worked in commercial radio for a number of years, it is accurate enough to bring back harrowing, immune and nervous system-shattering memories of having to listen to the same 10-15 songs for eight hours a day.
The design isn’t particularly based on anything that’s out there. I don’t think there’s a definitive frisbee logo that could be used for reference. It’s kind of just a ubiquitous flying disc that has transcended the notion of a single ‘official’ product. Like a yo-yo or hula hoops (the toy, not the crisps). Or Velcro. Or Tupperware. Predictably, the logo features a boomerang shape imposed on a circle and a load of jaggedy arrows. Suitably garish to appeal to boomers and non-boomers alike.
*I’m not entirely sure who’s responsible for the name but if anyone knows, please get in touch and I’ll update this page.
