DOPE

I will cut to the chase on this one – I haven’t seen a great deal of Ideal. Which, given how seriously I take my research, is a bit of a surprise. Especially considering how much I like Johnny Vegas. And when I say that, I mean in a live environment, not the polished, telly version you scumbags are used to. That was a bit abrupt, wasn’t it?

I have seen the man countless times and he never fails. Because it’s basically watching a pissed up bloke’s life fall apart in real time. He’s one of them that makes your face hurt and you can’t remember anything of what happened for the past couple of hours. One bit I *do* remember was seeing him in Nottingham in the year 2000 and him thanking the audience for coming out and not staying in ‘to watch Euro 96’. Shortly before telling said audience that might’ve been waiting to discover the result of the game taking part at the time on their own terms that France had beaten Italy.

Anyway, Ideal. I don’t know much, but I know that Johnny’s character is called Moz and is a small-time drug dealer. Hence ‘DOPE’. DO YOU SEE? I don’t recall how I got to it, but one day I encountered the iconic Shepard Fairey Obama ‘HOPE’ poster and ran through the alphabet, changing the first letter to see what I could come up with. So this is that.
